At a recent birthday party, my friend’s 7-year-old daughter informed me, with great seriousness, that she wants to be a "roller coaster tester" when she grows up.
Love this! It's imperative that we listen to and acknowledge our feelings. It's when we try to shove them into the trunk that it starts creating all kinds of problems.
Thanks, Bette! Emotions get loud when they feel ignored. And the moment we try to shove them in the trunk, they either hijack the whole car… or explode their way out.
1000/10 - well said @Laura! & poor Rachel :/
Thank you, Sarah!! Poor Rachel indeed!

This is a clear explanation to a question I didn't know how to articulate: "How do I tell the difference between strong emotions and gut feelings?"
The idea to give yourself time (at least 24 hours) to distinguish between the two is very helpful.
It’s a tricky thing, right? That's why giving yourself 24 hours is like hitting pause long enough to see if the signal stays steady.
